Meeting the New Penn Cohort of 2014 with Pizza

Zachary's, A View From Above
What an eventful evening I had today! It was fun meeting John Hilyer, our Penn cohort's chaperone at Zachary's today. My first impressions of him were that he was such a nice and likable guy. Passionate about teaching and about the Ivy League Connection program, Mr. Hilyer talked about what were our travel plans this July. He mentioned first that we would go to New York City where we would visit New York University and Columbia University. But visiting these colleges would also be supplanted with New York tastes such as a sandwich from a Jewish deli and New York style pizza. Then we would visit Washington D.C. to look at cool exhibits such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the Smithsonian. Our last stop before University of Pennsylvania itself would be Philadelphia where we would visit the Liberty Bell and have a classic Philly cheese steak.

Scrumptious Pizza!
But enough about our travel plans. The dinner was also inviting with delicious deep dish pizza. Supplemented with Coke and a pleasant atmosphere, Zachary's seemed divine. It was interesting to meet my other cohort members. Most of them were from El Cerrito High with some of them from my classes such as AP Literature. Another one was from Middle College High. With diverse talents like juggling and playing the piano, my cohort members hold such intricate secrets. I can't wait to get to know them and Mr. Hilyer better in this trip to University of Pennsylvania!

  1. That’s one mighty fine looking pizza pie, Andrew. Mighty fine, indeed.
